Between 2004 and 2005 the Smithsonian Institution opened the Sikh Heritage Gallery
in Washington D.C. at the National Museum of Natural History. This permanent
exhibit entitled Sikhs: Legacy of the Punjab featuring over 100 items
of Sikh heritage and culture combined with information introducing the
Sikh religion and history of the Sikh people.
With over 24 million visitors a year, the Smithsonian is the most visited
museum complex in the world. This kind of potential exposure allowed Americans and visitors from around the world to learn more about
Sikhs and Sikhism.
The following web pages presents a virtual tour of the exhibit as it appeared at its opening on July 24th, 2004. |
